Left the house around noon and had the luxury of a ride to the airport from Tom. We parked in the Purple Parking which a bit of a nightmare as it's miles away from Heathrow. But I tell you what Sunday is the day to travel through the ghost town like Terminal 1.Flew on Air New Zealand and at check-in they were very promising. Moved us to a security row and once on board they had to be the most helpful friendly staff ever encountered. I find Virgin is usually the benchmark for decent flights but Air New Zealand shits all over them! Slept through the usual movie and Milk and then watched Platoon which I'd never seen before then caught the classic This Is Spinal Tap as we landed.
Once through the airport Tom and I caught a cab to the one of the more rubbish hotels on Sunset Blvd. The Hotel, unfortunately the "shit" Standard has paper thin walls and plexi-glass for windows which means you don't sleep as you hear everything! The staff were friendly but all noise is insane in this former old people's home... Had a late meal at the usual Barney's Beanery and then called it an early night.
Have been given a start time of 6pm tomorrow so hopefully if all goes well will be able to catch Steel Panther around midnight! A pic from the last time I saw them in Vegas...
