Checked out of the hotel and then headed back to L2 headquarters. Didn't do too much at all today which was quite nice. Once 8pm rolled around people starting turning up to L2 and all the ladies looked fantastic which was great. It was nice to see Dean and Danielle even though Dean was pretty sick. Donavon turned up with a magician called Che. We did all the loud things we normally do, did a quick Kraftwerk type pic and then it was time to go!! Would have been good to stay there all night as the vibe was great.

Dean and Danielle graciously gave us a ride over to Benn's for a quick drink and a spin without any records. Once back in Kitsilano it was over to the restaurant Abigail's Party which was some one's Birthday bad music New Year's party where we only knew Laura and Larissa!! After ringing in the New Year most of the entertainment came from licking the tops off the brownies and putting them back so we headed back to L2 headquarters to watch the Marky Mark classic Rock Star! On the way back some guy screamed the outside girl has nice legs, best try at a pickup line I heard all night... Bring on 2008!

Got up earlish and had a bit of breakfast and then it was over to the Vancouver Aquarium. As a little addition booked the Fish and I in for a little Otter feeding. (Figured with Christmas presents can't go wrong with something like the past birthday!) Lindsay our guide had a load of information to give but every time she asked a question the know-it-all about animals Fish answered them all! She could have probably given us all the "did you know..." One quite funny thing was not to make eye contact with this one Otter in the other tank or he wouldn't eat his food! We had to get Tanu to swim in front of us and then drop the food beside her. Of course I missed a few times and dropped it on her belly which she didn't mind. I wouldn't mind if someone dropped food on my belly!!

Finished the evening off with a fantastic sushi meal at Shijo which was a million miles better than yesterday's disappointment. Amazing service and the food was great, they even had the classic Japanese dish of a Philadelphia Roll. Thought they missed a trick the by not having the salmon smoked with the cream cheese, seaweed, and rice!!!

Had a great Dim Sum lunch with the Fish, Steve, James, Kevin, and Jenna at the Imperial. Was really good and it seems no matter how much you eat there it always seems to be about the same price!?! Took in Tim Burton's new film Sweeney Todd, umm no one mentioned it was a musical!! No where on the previews did it make one note of it, can't stand musicals but it was a pretty good film. Although there was a lack of sheep (Mr.Burton likes to stick them in his movies for some reason.) which was a little disappointing!

In the evening joined up with L2 and went to see the Vancouver Giants play, it was the Fish's first hockey game ever. She couldn't understand why there was fighting and why people cheered but I think she quite liked the little kids playing in the intermission!!

Headed over to Brandi's after which was quite disappointing. Not like it used to be in there. Because L2 were tired and needed to be up early the next day, the Fish and I did another drink at the Loose Moose which was great. Rockin' music which to be honest I thought we would have heard at Brandi's. Met up with Dayvid Swart who was on good form and once we finished their we stumbled back to the Sutton, probably could have crawled...

Braved the crowds at Metrotown today but took a break at the beginning by watching I Am Legend which wasn't too bad but they always ruin these movies with these really bad endings!! Maybe the writers strike happened 80% of the way through the movie??

Was really looking forward to dinner tonight as I had made a reservation at Tojo's weeks in advance! Well oh how the mighty Tojo's has fallen... The service was absolutely horrendous! I would have expected that kind of service from somewhere in England, verdict: Nobu owns you now. Food was not bad but they are doing just as innovative things at Nobu for the same price!! Very disappointed!

My other favorite shot from the year end Kerrang! issue of Dave Grohl the nicest man in Rock N' Roll!!

Thursday, December 27, 2007

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'!! Up nice and early with a little hangover and over to Lavington to take the Fish to John Way who gave her a craniosacral treatment.

Did the drive back to Vancouver and checked into the lovely Sutton Place Hotel... Had a dinner with my mother, her friend that couldn't keep quiet Cynthia, Nick, and Denis at Milestones. Another awkward meal with all the crap that has gone on. To be honest I can't wait to get back to England!!

Wednesday, December 26, 2007

Got up early and did a quick couple of errands and then drove up to Silver Star to get more annoyed that I wasn't skiing!! Had a quick bowl of soup although I would have rather been skiing in the powder bowls. At least Fish and I found a winter place to take a few photos...

Awkward dinner number 2 which included an extra slice of bloody racism!! And I thought that was only England, no it's everywhere. Had a fantastic escape with Keith and Wendy and finally felt relaxed for the first time since leaving Vancouver... We went out for quite a few drinks around Vernon town and even blagged a ride home from Keith's mom Mary as she was on babysitting duties!

Tuesday, December 25, 2007

As my brother's blog said, Merry Shitmas! And that's the way it was...

Drive was fine from Vancouver only hit a couple of snowy patches and even saw a moose which is rare on the Coquihalla highway. It was nice to see my father but the rest of it I could have really done without to be honest! Better luck next year?? Should have stayed in Vancouver.

Monday, December 24, 2007

Got up early walked all the way around Kits beach to Granville Island. Had a little look round and then hopped on the Aqua Bus to downtown. Hung out with Nick and my mother for the rest of the day. After another all you can eat we drove around town and even through the very sparse looking Stanley Park which had been hit bad by the storms last year.

Between all the Bullshit and Drama that has been going on regarding Christmas this year had a fantastic "Eve" meal at Osaka Teppanyaki Steak House on Broadway. Even Denis got into the throwing food around like the chef...

Fishy did point out an interesting thing about the Lions Gate Bridge pictured above which I had to agree with. Why the big red bows on the lions??

Sunday, December 23, 2007

Came back to L2 and had to awake Larissa who was really tired from the sickness. At least Mandela was taking care of her! (pictured) Once Laura got home Benn arrived with all the ingredients and got to work in the kitchen.

After having the lovely burritos home cooked by Benn we finished off the evening watching the classics National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and Old School. Looks like we are starting a Juliette Lewis theme...

Saturday, December 22, 2007

Had a wonderful easy morning as we stayed in the lovely Pan Pacific hotel, thanks Christina!! First stop of the day was to the Fish's favorite store Fluevog. Well it's probably a favorite of many other ladies too!! Probably shouldn't have added the link as now they are easier to find!

Met up with my mother and Nick and walked all round town through English Bay and then introduced the Fish to the cheap all you can eat that is sushi in Vancouver!! Over to L2 and we were going to go out for a big one tonight but thought it was better to rest the tired Fish after a busy day...

Friday, December 21, 2007

Watched Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof this morning which was amazing. Had some of the best car chase and car crash scenes in ages!

Went over to the Rive Rock Casino in the afternoon for a quick drink with Kevin, Steve, and James. Larissa came and met us who I think is coming down with the sickness I acquired on the flight over?!? And then it was off to the airport to pick up the Fish!! And now the introduction to Vancouver begins...

Here's my recent change to the favorite shot of the year in the latest issue of Kerrang! of Simon from Biffy.

Thursday, December 20, 2007

Carried on the the Christmas cheer with some afternoon drinks with Grant and we probably would have gone all night but had some planned Go-Karting with Steve and James. I think we planned this one months ago. Went over to James first and showed him a load of p-shop tips and then it was over to TBCIR in Richmond.

Finally did a lap under 32 seconds which was pretty good. They had new karts which actually worked properly for a change before you would never know how they were going to run. Finished the night off with a few more drinks at the Elephant Walk... Upon arriving back to L2 I interrupted a raccoon trying to scale a tree onto their roof!! Canadian wildlife eh?!?

Wednesday, December 19, 2007

Got up early again and did a little Christmas shopping. Had a nice lunch with Jon at the Irish Heather and then worked on a few things that needed finishing up.

Went out for dinner with Larissa and my mum to Shiru-Bay in Yaletown which did a different but great version of sushi.

And here is the year end issue of Kerrang! for 2007 with the Dave Grohl shot from Sheffield. For a little trivia... It is a real smile as Dave was holding his little girl's hand while this one was taken!!

Tuesday, December 18, 2007

Spent most of the day going around town with my mother doing the lovely chore of Christmas shopping. It's insane how much people really get into it!!

After dinner at the Flying Tiger, Larissa and I headed over to the Black Door and caught the end of Buckle Up Russia's rehearsal. Was great to see Dean and Donavon. We all headed to the Morrissey and luckily I wasn't drinking because Larissa hit it big and was found in the ladies room while I was having getting some buck-a-slice!! Took the long route with a few pit stops home as it wasn't a puke and rally type of evening...

Above is the one downside of a friend with a camera taking care of you when you have had too much to drink!!

Monday, December 17, 2007

Had a good 12 hour sleep which will hopefully make it all better now! Guess I am not used to the time changes when the trip is longer than 3 days!!

Had an evening of nostalgia and joined James and Daniel for some floor hockey. Had been years since I had played but it all came back pretty quickly. Even managed to score and pick up a good slash over the arm. But that's hockey isn't it?? Nothing that a few drinks didn't fix...

Sunday, December 16, 2007

Feeling like shit today!! Picked up a cold most likely from the recycled oxygen on the plane and having troubles adjusting to the time change. Finished a load of work on the computer and will have more that needs to be done soon.

Strolled around town and picked up a hockey stick for tomorrow's little game with James and a few people. Was supposed to go with Larissa and Laura to see Questlove from the Roots do a DJ set at Shine but Larissa said why don't you stay here and crash!! Fell asleep on the couch and think I heard them get home around 3 am!!!

Saturday, December 15, 2007

Up at 5am but what can you do? Went for a lovely breakfast over at Abigail's Party where Laura works and then it was back to L2 headquarters to make a few phone calls. Sounds like a few people will be at Benn's tonight which will be good.

Wandered around 4th with L2 and Alexis and ended up at Las Margaritas for some mexi snacks. Had a quick dinner back at Abigail's and then it was over to the Black Door to see a night of metal which included Denis' band Jones Bones. Great to see a few people who I hadn't seen in ages! Had a few drinks and by the time 1am rolled around I was done!!! But stayed awake long enough to witness L2 lying on the leftover cardboard from the new sofa...

Friday, December 14, 2007

Finally finished packing about 5 minutes before I needed to leave. Enjoyed a ride up to Heathrow with the Fish where we had teary goodbye and went through check-in faster than ever! Found a spot to catch up on some work and then hopped on the 8 hour flight to Vancouver...

The lovely Larissa picked me up and went back to L2 headquarters to quickly shower and then have dinner at the Flying Tiger where Laura the second half of L2 works. Went for a few drinks at Benn's and then it was a nightcap at the Morrissey.

Thursday, December 13, 2007

A day of boredom at the computer!! Had so many other things I needed to do today as I leave for the return to Vancouver tomorrow... Looking forward to seeing L2, Benn, Grant and all the other peeps but I know the pace is going to be snailing!

Here's my pic of the year for Kerrang! of Biffy Clyro...

Wednesday, December 12, 2007

Up early AGAIN!! Caught a train over to South East London to drop off the dead camera... The lady who took it seemed to think there wasn't anything wrong with it! I thought the clue was mirror constantly moving but hey what do I know?!?

Picked up a load of sushi from Wasabi under Charing Cross Station and then over to Laurence's for an afternoon feast. Had a great chat about everything and I got to see pics from the great engine switch that his Camaro is going through at the moment. Car open heart surgery!!

Slowly trained over to Notting Hill to meet up with Scarlet, Tom, and the Fish. We went to see the Golden Compass which is based on the fantastic Philip Pullman novel Northern Lights. Movie was OK and I hate to be one of those people who say the book is way better but that's what it was. Too bad it won't do that well in the US because of it's anti organized religion theme!!

Capped off the evening back in Soho for the Raw Power Management Christmas party... Gareth and I even re-created the point which we have mastered at every FFAF live show now!!

Tuesday, December 11, 2007

Finished off a few things for the Christmas issue and then went to the Astoria to do a shoot with Apocalyptica. Great guys who were really up for it. Sat in the office to finish a few things before meeting up with Carly and her teacher for a drink. Once the Fish and Mr.Hughes joined us it was time to go over to the Astoria for the gig. Great show, was as good as the one I saw a few years ago at Richards on Richards!!

Had the lovely bus replacement home which just dragged the night even longer!

And here's pic from last night's after party with two very excited Led Zeppelin fans!

Monday, December 10, 2007

Because of the lovely Scarlet Page I was lucky enough to see the Ahmet Ertegun tribute concert tonight. The Led Zeppelin set was unbelievable! They played everything you would have wanted to hear and were flawless! Very well rehearsed and an amazing set of just over 2 hours. Hopefully they do more shows?!?!?

The vibe in the arena hall was like a Kerrang! awards with all the celebs milling about. Was funny to see Marilyn Manson talking to Dave Grohl after the show was done to see security ask them to exit just like any other regular concert goer...

Sunday, December 09, 2007

Went for a visit to the G-Ma's who has had a load of things going wrong with her home... No carpet in the main living room as the heater flooded the entire room!! And loads of other little things that are adding up.

After the visit went up to the Astoria for FFAF and the biggest nightmare ever came true for me!! Shot the first 2 opening bands and during the second (Kids In Glass Houses) my camera packed up and wouldn't work. The shutter just died and I really couldn't do anything. Luckily I asked George FFAF's tour manager if I could borrow his camera for the show. He was nice enough to help me out so I quickly learned the Rebel controls and went at it.

Great show and the band seemed to be having a load of fun on-stage. Probably not as much fun as one of their managers who walked across the stage with his hand up and cock and balls out!! Not the best view for the kids in the crowd and I unfortunately only saw it from behind...

Saturday, December 08, 2007

Had the British "lie in" today which was much needed! Got a text today saying I have a ticket for the Ahmet Ertegun tribute show on Monday which should be great. No it WILL be fantastic!!! Thanks Scarlet!!

Went over to Chichester for an early Christmas gathering with the Fish family... Was a nice get together but I was concerned with the cacti that were growing in the conservatory!!

Friday, December 07, 2007

Did a quick shoot while in the office today with Max from Say Anything. After work went out with Nich, Alex, and the Fish to see the worst play ever! It was amazing how bad it was!

God in Ruins billed as the Christmas Carol for the Internet generation. No just weird and gay! Highlights were definitely heckles from Fish and Nich, and them saying, "C'mon let's go!" and me saying, "No I sitting this one all the way to the end!" Did it get better? No it got worst!! Still a fun night and I think we managed to forget about it by the amount we drank afterwards. Was quite funny as we were talking about all the gigs we wanted to see tonight instead of that play...

A shot of a lonely leave out front the office. Weird as there are no trees around at all!

Thursday, December 06, 2007

Felt very swamped with work today as there are so many things to do. Been playing the catch-up game all week with the digital files. Not looking forward to the camera/software change as the work flow isn't bad at the moment! It's just the finding time part!

More from Florida which goes well with the building up of files!!

Wednesday, December 05, 2007

Had a very hard time getting up this morning. Can't wait for a sleep in on Saturday. (Or a lie in as they call it here!)

Did a little shoot during lunch today with Reuben. Great bunch of guys who were up for messing about with the Christmas theme. Then basically dragged my tired ass home in time to see Mr.Ramsay take on some Welsh people!

Another pic from Florida that made me laugh. If only as a photographer we could get photo spots more often!! Shit I did a vertical unlike the sign suggested...

Tuesday, December 04, 2007

Another day at the office... Really feeling the jet lag from the Florida trip, which is weird as I never adjusted properly there!

Met up with Kathleen this evening who I hadn't seen in ages. She was over doing a little Europe tour. We had a great catch up and both agreed on too many things.

Tomorrow's Kerrang! cover of Funeral For A Friend in Russia...

Monday, December 03, 2007

Finally arrived at Gatwick an hour and a half after we were supposed to. Went and had a quick shower and then went straight into the office as I am filling in at the photo desk this week... A very tiring day, felt like a Grinch... Sleep please!

Sunday, December 02, 2007

Again up early to have a look around Universal Studios and The Island adventure. Went to the breakfast buffet but before I could even get my fat self in the doors the stairs crumbled under my weight! (pictured!) To top it off almost lost my breakfast on first ride of the day, the Mummy. A roller coaster in the dark, excellent! After that just went around getting photos with all the characters and doing tame rides like ET and Men In Black!! Definitely eaten by Jaws and the Grinch were the highlights... Could be a reoccurring theme on photos for the next few days. One weird point was Spiderman who had an Australian accent!?!?!

Was disappointed as when we had to leave to head back to the hotel saw the face painters and I so would have got a Spiderman done for the flight! Not much better luck with Scoot and Emma for a flight on the way back as we sat 2 hours before the plane went anywhere...

Saturday, December 01, 2007

Arose early for a little well big American breakfast then did the 3 hour drive to Orlando... Looked at the map beforehand which looked like the I-highways were the way to go but the Sat-Nav had a different route which was gorgeous. So so many Birds of Prey on the route and the amazing thing was that I could actually identify them. Well they were Kites and Harris Hawks I think!?!?

Got to Orlando a few hours later and checked into the Hard Rock Hotel which is definitely as cheesy as their cafes!! They couldn't even get the type of guitar right on a few artist's displays! Had a not bad view though...

Dropped our things and then went to a tacky mall but did manage to find a few things. Even found a book which I had done the cover for in Hot Topic. Headed back to the hotel and then went for a wander around the Universal City walk so we could get a little preview of what we were in for at the theme parks tomorrow... How about Vegas without the gambling??
